Narrative:
For more than a decade now, pangolins have been recorded as the most illegally traded and trafficked mammal, due to massive demand from China and Vietnam. Its meat, without exclusion of foetuses, is consumed as delicacies whilst its scales are used in traditional Chinese medicine with no actual proven health benefits. In 2015, Prince William asserts that these scaly mammals’ risks becoming extinct before most even know of them. Meanwhile, conservationists are battling to save pangolins before it gets “eaten to extinction”.

This digital media kit aims to raise awareness on the dire situation that the critically endangered pangolins are in while encouraging conversations for wildlife and biodiversity. Additionally, to educate publics on why and engage them on how they could contribute. Subsequently, also an opportunity for pangolin enthusiasts to unite in urging publics’ acknowledgement for these unique mammals and their plight.

With that, the Wildlife Reserve Singapore’s (WRS) strategic team has opted for the media to focus on varied pieces with the following: character, emotion and logic. This media kit is made to be largely based on the regional and Singapore context.
